Citi Field - Home of the Mets

We really enjoyed our time at Citi Field. We learned they took their team colors from a combination of the blue of the former Brooklyn Dodgers and orange of the New York Giants. We road a crowded subway (it was Friday night rush hour) right to Citi Field which is very near LaGuardia Airport. Many planes flew overhead as we entered the stadium and during the game.

They were giving away Mets t-shirts so for the first time, we covered our Mariner's shirts and pretended to be a New Yorker. It was a fun night and comfortable night of baseball in a great stadium.

Hoping the karma of being near so many trophies will travel home with us and bring an appearance and
win in the World Series for the Mariners someday soon.
We visited their museum and are hoping posing next to World Championship trophies might bring the karma back to deprived Seattle and break our 7 game losing streak. They also feature a kids park and Shea bridge to give homage to their former home, Shea Stadium.

We had the opportunity to see Matt Harvey (Number 33) pitch who returned this April after not pitching since 2013 due an elbow injury and subsequent Tommy John surgery.  He was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated as the Dark Knight of Gotham.

Note the 2 names of number 33, Matt Harvey

11 strike outs for Matt Harvey

We stayed until the very end as the Mets nearly rallied in the ninth. Matt Harvey had 11 strikeouts (6 of the first 9) but still lost the game in a Marlin defeat of the Mets 4-2.We jaunted to the subway and got on the first express subway back to Times Square. It was the shortest game we have attended at 2 hours and 10 minutes.  It is hard to believe this perfect timing, but Bob and Barb had driven into the city for the theater and got out about the same time as we got off the subway. They walked down 47th street and we met them at the corner! We walked around Times Square for awhile and then Bob kindly drove us back to New Rochelle. Another epic day in NYC.
