MEET JOSEFA
Today we will be going to a Toronto Blue Jays Game at Rogers Centre. We are excited to see Jose Batista, a player from the Dominican Republic. He helped lift the Jays to defeat the Houston Astros last night. He has won two Hank Aaron Awards and two Silver Slugger Awards and has appeared in five MLB All-Star Games. We are hoping he will help defeat the Astros again today. He represents our Unbound child Josefa who needs a sponsor to help lift her family out of poverty, keep her in school and give her an opportunity for a better life.
Seven year old Josefa is from Guatemala. Josefa enjoys coloring and cutting paper. Her goal is to graduate as an accountant. At home, she helps her mother by folding clothes. Josefa, her mother and three older sisters are living with her grandfather. The adobe hut has a metal roof and a dirt floor. They're all in good health. Josefa's mother washes clothes for others, but sometimes, she doesn't have any work to do.
