University of Alabama and Denny Bryant stadium

Tuesday, May 5
Day 28
Happy Cinco de Mayo
We had a quick breakfast at the hotel and then to the Honda dealer for an oil change, tire rotation and check up. Believe it or not, they were cheaper than another place we called. On to explore the University of Alabama. It is a beautiful campus, brick buildings everywhere and immaculate.

School was out already so not too many people around. We wandered through the campus and then went into stealth mode to take a few pictures around and in Denny Bryant stadium, home of the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide, Roll!

Even though Jack secretly hates Alabama, (only because they win all the time) it was fun to tour the campus.

After a sandwich from Publix, we are on the road again, toward Atlanta.   We were on a stop and go highway for what seemed like hours during rush hour which translated into a very long day on the road, especially at the end when we are headed to Griffin, Georgia.
We eventually arrived at Elaine and Bruce's very lovely home in a Del Webb community in a rural area of Griffin which is about 35 miles south of Atlanta. Elaine had to leave as she works for a choral group that was having a dress rehearsal that evening. We met up in town and had great food and conversation at the Corner Cafe in Griffin. 3 of us had grilled fish tacos in honor of Cinco de Mayo and Jack had a great gyro. Really good food for such a small town, very crowded. We talked for awhile and learned about Elaine's competitive master's swimming and Bruce's fused glass work. He makes beautiful jewelry!  Check it out at www.CookedGlassCreations.Etsy.com
They kindly offered us the opportunity to work out in the morning. Not that we need it or anything! Ha.
