St Charles Ave, back to Baton Rouge

Friday, September 7, 2012
Woke up to our last morning in New Orleans.  No walk into the French Quarter today but drove toward Audobon Park and Tulane University through the Garden District.  Oh my there are some spectacular homes all along St. Charles Avenue.  We finally found where the trolley ran,  Walked around the park for a bit and then through the campus which is also right next to Loyola.  Both nice campuses but Loyolas buildings were more beautiful.  We then drove back to the Parkway and had an alligator Po’ Boy, another delicious new food.

Drove toward Baton Rouge (Red Stick) and stopped again at a Starbuck’s to blog and drink my favorite beverage.  Drove to downtown for a band that was playing and had some dinner and then off to LSU to check out the tailgaters that had already arrived.  They can park their motor homes starting at 6:30 in the morning on Friday and have to be out on Sunday.  A lot come and never go to the game but party and cook and drink all weekend.  We met 3 groups of really nice people who all invited us back tomorrow for food and beverage.  We went to see Mike the Tiger in his 3 million dollar habitat.  He was out pacing, going in the water and posing for pictures.  Hopefully we will see him at the game.  He doesn’t go if he doesn’t want to get in his cage!  One lady we met says she wants to come back as Mike the Tiger in her next life as he is the most pampered creature around.  These people are so amazingly nice down here and one guy said football is a religion in Louisiana.  I think I agree from what we have seen.  Back to Howard and Jean’s for conversation and sleep.
