Reflections on the South and the Pacific Northwest
When we were in Natchez, I took this picture entitled
What I love about the South.
After
being here in the South for over 2 weeks I would like to add some
comments. Jodi and Jack’s list of why we
love the South.
1. Fried
okra from Cynthia’s kitchen in Mississippi, farm raised Mississippi catfish
2. Southern hospitality and friendship
3.
Jambalaya, beignets, gumbo and ettouffe
4.
Beautiful houses
5.
Swamps and bayous and the wildlife that live
there

6.
LSU football traditions even if they annihilated
our beloved Huskies
7.
Manners: Yes, sir and Maam
Jodi and Jack’s list of why we miss the Pacific Northwest
1.
Family and friends
2.
Daily/weekly daytime temperatures below 90 degrees
and 90% humidity
3.
Knowing where the nearest Starbuck’s is
(although GPS has helped us)
4.
Microbrews, although Louisiana has a darn
good beer – Abita, but most folks around here seem to prefer Bud Light and
Coors light
5.
NO FIREANTS and no fire ant bites
6.
Night time temps below 75 degrees
7.
Washington apples
8.
Measuring and remembering history by dates or
our children’s ages instead of hurricanes
9.
Ability to swim in lakes without worrying
about alligators
0. Less likelihood of contracting West Nile
Virus
