Mike Moustakas and Mousmi of India, Royals fans needed to step up to the plate!

Okay, Kansas City fans, we are still looking for a sponsor for Mousmi, an 8 year old girl from India.  She represents player Mike Moustakas, the beloved 3rd baseman of the Kansas City Royals, in our 30 kids in 30 Major League Baseball  ball park road trip.  The sponsorship organization Unbound is the largest non-profit organization in Kansas and through Unbound, 270,000 children and elders are sponsored in 20 different countries by good people like you!  A $30.00 a month donation can truly change the life of a child and their family.   If you need a little encouragement, please realize that kids have been sponsored representing players in cities all around you including Saint Louis, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago (both teams) Seattle and Houston.  The night we were at Kauffman, they were encouraging fans to vote for him as the last man in, in the All-Star Vote.  The Royals already had 6 players going to Cincinnati for the mid-season All-Star game. We just learned that the voting did earn them the 7th Royals spot, Mike Moustakas!  
 He was drafted second overall in the 2007 Major League Baseball draft by the Royals. During games he is often greeted by calls of "Moose", a nickname given by fans and the media.The team encourages the nickname by selling foam moose antlers   In 2015, Moustakas carried over his success from the postseason and as of July 7th is hitting .301 with 7 home runs and 31 RBIs. He then became one of the 5 candidates in the American League for the All-Star Game Final Vote. Moustakas has had a breakout season in 2015, beating shifts using opposite field power. Moustakas was placed on the family emergency list twice during the first half of the 2015 season and unfortunately he was not playing the night we were there.

MEET MOUSMI

Country: India | Age: 8 | Female

Mousmi is a well-mannered child who does well in school. She gets along well with other children her age. Mousmi lives with her parents and older brother in a mud hut. His mother tends to the domestic chores. Mousmi's father is a farmer, but successive sharing of ancestral property has left him with a small plot of land. He doesn't yield any surplus produce to sell for an income. He also looks for work as a day laborer, to help provide for his family's most basic needs.
