Bye to San Antonio

Koi at Japanese Garden at Brackenridge Park
The car is almost packed and we are ready to start the next leg of our journey.  We are headed to Austin today and believe it or not I am for the first time on the whole trip, caught up on the blog.  Of course, that will never last but it feels good for once!  We have had a fabulous time in San Antonio.  It is a fine city with a lot to offer.  We did a lot but are sure we still missed some sights.  Thank you to our wonderful host who allowed us to house sit for her!  I am sure the deal was better for us than for her, but her plants look healthy and she returns soon.  We just wanted to put in a few more pictures of some of the places we enjoyed that we may not have blogged about.

Salado Creek Greenway trail where we logged lots of steps
Jack is keeping track of all our steps on the trip with his pedometer(of course he is!).  We currently have 1,850,000 steps.  Of course he also has a goal for the trip.  I'll keep you posted.  My calves are killing me but in spite of BBQ, Southern cuisine, Tex/Mex, biscuits, and corn bread, my jeans still fit, although not sure they will by the time I need to wear them.
This is trail the morning after the big rain.  We had walked across this the day before
and there was barely a trickle running through the creek.

Believe it or not there is a boardwalk going all the way across this lake that is completely covered
since the rain.  There was not water in this area several days ago.
