Day
66
We
only have a few hours on the road today to get to Pittsburgh so have
given us time to go back into Cleveland to visit the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame. What a great museum, we could have spent all day here!
They give great information on the history of rock and roll and all
who contributed to it and have many displays of rock and roll
memorabilia, both old and recent.

Each year several people and bands are
inducted into the museum. There are 4 categories of inductees. The first category is Performers. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years
after the release of their first recording. Criteria include the
influence and significance of the artist's contributions to the
development and perpetuation of rock and roll. The next category is
for the Ahmet Ertegun award and includes producers, disc jockeys,
songwriters, record executives, journalists and other industry
professionals who have had a major influence on the development of
rock and roll. The Early Influences award includes artists whose
music had an impact on the evolution of rock and roll and inspired
rock's leading artists. The Award for Musical Excellence honors
musicians, songwriters and producers who have spent their life
creating important and memorable music.

The 2015 Inductees under the Performers category include The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Green Day, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, and Bill Withers. The Early Influences Award goes to The “5” Royales. The award for Musical Excellence goes to Ringo Starr. There are many opportunities to watch and listen to great performers and bands. After the museum we headed on our way to Pittsburgh and our new hosts Al and Genny who live in the Highland Park neighborhood. They have a fabulous 4 story home. We enjoyed dinner out with them at Les Bruges. They were very interested in our travels and our goal of finding 30 sponsors for 30 kids in 30 parks. Bless their hearts!

Hey, Jodi and Jack!
ReplyDeleteBruce and I are wrapping up our road trip tonight and heading home after 46 days. Now that I am finished with my blog posts, I'm catching up on yours. What a great adventure you both are enjoying!
I loved reading this post on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, because Bruce and I DID spend all day there- well, almost. We were there for seven hours. This is my post about our day in Cleveland: https://elaineiakstravels.wordpress.com/2015/05/20/road-trip-day-11-rock-on/
I've been enjoying reading about everywhere you have traveled, especially the places we visited, too, such as the Canadian side of Niagara. Some of our photos look alike!
Happy and safe travels!
Elaine & Bruce
Thanks so much Elaine. We have been following you on your amazing trip but am a little behind. It was your entry that made our decision to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so thank you! You really planned your trip well, you are a great photographer and we have really enjoyed your posts! Stay in touch!
