Christ Cathedral, the former Crystal Cathedral

Monday, April 20
We walked around an Anaheim neighborhood to get a little exercise. Skipping the gym, eating out and sitting in the car and at games could have dire consequences! On our way back, we spotted the Crystal Cathedral so we took a detour to see it. We were surprised to hear that the Catholic Church had recently purchased the property. It truly is a beautiful place. We were surprised that earlier that day they had the public memorial service for the Reverend Robert Schuller, the founder of the Crystal Cathedral and the Hour of Power . We arrived 3 hours after the service began and was over but the flowers were still there..

The Church changed the name to Christ Cathedral

Christ Cathedral will be the first Protestant church transformed into a Catholic cathedral. The parish at Christ Cathedral alone offers daily Mass in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese and parishes across the county offer Mass in Latin, Chinese, French, Korean, Polish, and a vast array of other languages. Our Lord has instructed us. to “Go, and make disciples of all nations.” Never could we have imagined that He would gather the nations together under one stunningly beautiful all-glass structure that allows the sunlight to shine in and His Light to shine out.
And so what does all of this mean for the Augustine Institute? Chosen as one of only 6 national apostolates that will maintain offices on the Christ Cathedral campus, the Augustine Institute joins EWTN, Immaculate Heart Radio, Dynamic Catholic, Magis Center for Reason & Faith, and The Pontifical Mission Society.

I was interested in knowing what was now housed here. I have been receiving a daily email from the Magis Center since it started. The Magis Center was started by Father Robert Spitzer, SJ who was the President of Gonzaga University during some of the years daughter Mallory was there. I heard him speak a few times, and he is quite inspiring as well as brilliant. I watched him on TV on a panel with Stephen Hawking debating the scientific evidence for the proof of God's existence. I am not sure he convinced Hawking but he is quite persuasive.
