Anaheim, Dodger game and a day with Dennis

We drove up to Anaheim and went to mass at St. Boniface. It is a large old church in Anaheim. They have 3 Saturday evening masses and 7 Sunday masses, some in Spanish, some in English and some in Vietnamese. It is interesting how all Catholic masses are essentially the same, however, each parish is unique in the music, how the gloria is sung, the comfort of the pews and kneelers, the way visitors are greeted. We did speak briefly to the priest after mass but it was more difficult to interact with parishioners here.
We headed to the lovely home of Kitty. We sat and chatted for an hour learning about her life and seeing her home and garden including her avocado, lemon, mandarin orange trees. She told us she was from Minnesota, and had taught in Chaska which is where one of my sisters currently lives. But then the really weird part came out. She was talking about going to Minnesota in June and would be heading to Brainerd. She used to work at Breezy Point, a resort near Nisswa. I told her my family had a cabin in Hackensack and asked her if she knew where that was. She told me she graduated from Hackensack high in a class of 16 students in 1945! She is a very spry, delightful 87 year old.

We are off to Dodger Stadium to meet Jack's friend from elementary and high school, Dennis McNamara.

We parked in lot 13 after purchasing a parking pass online and walked up the hill and then up to the plaza where all the retired numbers are. It has a great view of LA and a police officer told us they have weddings there with the lights of the city in the background. Jack talked to him for a long time and told him about our trip, Unbound, ATC and our blog. He was such a nice guy and a big baseball fan with dreams to do the same trip when he could retire. We met up with Dennis. It was so great of him to spend the day with us! We went to different spots in the stadium but had to remain on the level we entered.
We tried to get a pass to go down to the lower levels as an out of towner but their policy has changed this year and they do not allow anyone to go to other levels of the stadium. I guess we will be sitting in our purchased seats the whole game. That will be different! Jack and Dennis caught up and Jodi learned about his life and family and we had a great day at the park eating Dodger dogs, peanuts and the guys had a couple of beers. The Dodgers won 7-0, defeating the Colorado Rockies.

That makes 6 straight wins at home. Unfortunately,3 of them were against the Mariners. We waited awhile to leave and traffic to thin out and then had a relatively easy ride back.
