Big Horn Battlefield National Monument

July 20, 2012 Day 15
Hit the road and stopped at Big Horn Battlefield National Monument.  Listened to a park ranger give a nearly hour presentation on the Battle.  Very interesting stuff.  It is sad that when two cultures collide that they cannot live by some sort of compromise.  Many grave markers on Last Stand Hill including General  George Armstrong Custer’s but his body was actually moved to WestPoint. Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse had resisted living on the reservation and wanted to continue their way of life, following the buffalo herds that had moved out of South Dakota. The US government broke the treaties signed once gold had been found in the Black Hills which was sacred Indian Land.

When we driving through reservation in eastern Montana, the service indicator light came on. Our book said it could be from not getting gas cap on tight enough.  Sure enough the cap was not on tight enough, hopefully that is what the problem is.  Time will tell.  Come on Ordelia, you can do it! Our Accord has lost her Acc, therefore she is ord, thus the name Ordelia..  We  stopped and got coffee in the middle of eastern Montana, everyone was getting hand dipped milkshakes.  Cute little place with antique shop.

Getting tired.  Found National Forest campsite in our South Dakota publication that we had ordered earlier.Thank God, we were able to get into Roubaix campground, pretty little place with a tiny lake not allowing any motorboats.  Used this as a jumping in point for the Black Hills tomorrow.  Had egg scramble with Italian sausage, Jack’s favorite.  Took a nice little walk and to bed.
