Hope you are still interested in our adventures.  No service throughout Montana and South Dakota.  We arrived in Minneapolis on Tuesday, July 24 and am trying to catch up on the past 2 weeks.  Sooo....... back to Glacier

Amazing, Jodi really is on the trip
Left Avalanche Campground early and arrived at Logan Pass at 8am.  Second in line, remember early bird? (Jack)  Took pictures at the Continental Divide.. Rivers on the east side flow to Missouri and Mississippi and on the West to the Arctic and Hudson Bay. We noticed a drip under the back seat passenger side of car at the pass.  Also our car was running after we shut it off (maybe the fan after the long climb?)  Anyway the drip made us worried.  Stopped to take a few pictures, car still dripping.  Got to St. Mary’s and talked to visitor information who directed Browning (40 minutes away) to the closest service station.  Then we talked to a park ranger who called on her cell phone to give us directions to Babb (9 miles north) to a mechanic who does not advertise but is extremely busy.  We drove there and parked on the road outside his place.  Right before driving in, Jack asked me if maybe the soft-sided cooler could be leaking.  Sure enough it was in the exact location of the drip.  We took out the cooler and there was a puddle in the back seat.  Guess what was causing the drip?  We felt a hundred dollars richer and very thankful no car problems, yet.  So we headed back south toward Two Medicine and stopped at St. Mary’s store right outside Glacier Park.  We payed 9 dollars for a six pack and 4 dollars for a half gallon of milk.  No longer felt richer.  Believe it or not, prices are cheaper IN the Park.  Oh, they wanted 4 dollars for ice instead of 2!  Drove south to Two Medicine.  Stopped at ranger station who gave us advice about hiking in the area but also mislead us on the map.  Arrived about 12:00 and found the greatest campsite.  Very private, with awesome views of mountains and water.  Set up camp and started off on a hike, after a lunch of leftover sloppy joes.  Started on the north shore loop around Two Medicine Lake and was trying to go to Twin Falls, 3.3 miles.  The trail sign said nothing about Twin Falls and that in combination with the ranger’s map sent us toward Dawson’s Pass.  Discovered error after a mile in of switchbacks in 90 degree heat.  Oh, I might add starting elevation was 5100 feet.   Jodi was dying, or at least felt like it..  Backtracked and found the simple trail to Twin Falls.  Lovely.  Came back and started around the south trail around the lake.  Ended at campstore which was 1 mile from our campsite.  We were exhausted but had another good story.  9.8 miles around lake with our detour.  Beautiful flowers on the overgrown path.
Missed the moose at the beaver pond.  Hope to try again tomorrow.  Got in the very cold water up to our waist, still no shower.  Cooked dinner of spaghetti and chicken and salad.  Cleaned up and went to campfire talk.  Jim Gladstone of the Blackfoot tribe came with his old roommate from UW (doctor in Browning).  Jim played Huskie football with Warren Moon in 1978 and went to the Rose Bowl.  He is a storyteller and musician and historian of Native American history.  He was great, it was very entertaining.  May have to check his Cd’s.  Told us to see a painting in Helena by Charlie Russell of buffalo herds before they were decimated.  Went to bed under the stars.  No rain flap tonight.  Awesome.
